Ligatures plz in Commentary (via slyxc).  This morning I came across the October issue of Commentary and was intrigued enough to read this article by National Review editor Jonah Goldberg on the politics of Battlestar Galactica.  I had not previously ever picked up an issue of this magazine.  I was going to say that aside from its politics, everything about it offered an excellent user experience: the typography, design, and paper are all lovely.  But then I saw this pullquote.  Human ingenuity invented ligatures for a reason. (P.S. Goldberg’s analysis of Galactica is completely wrong.)

For dinner: roasted brussel sprouts (via slyxc).  We got brussel sprouts on the stalk at the Giant last week.  This is about one-third of the stalk, roasted per Mark Bittman’s recipe.
